#BHWedFest – Review!

On a cold and wet rainy day in February, the idea for the Barrington Hall Wedding Festival (#BHWedFest) was born. The brainchild of Rocks & Frocks, Boxed Events and Barrington Hall; our idea was to create something out of the ordinary for couples who were getting married who wanted to meet local wedding suppliers in a fun and relaxed environment.

Exhibitors were handpicked for both their quality and their ability to not only provide the ordinary but also because they could provide the extraordinary.  The first 100 Brides received a glass of Prosecco (curtesy of Cambridge Wine Merchants) and a goody bag which contained beauty products, handmade biscuits, magazines, sweet bags and numerous money off vouchers making them a true goody bag in every sense of the word!

Our vision was for an interactive wedding festival set in the house, marquee and grounds of the exclusive use Barrington Hall; we asked exhibitors to be ‘creative’ with how they presented their services and they didn’t disappoint as you can see from this video footage.

What was created was a relaxed and fun festival atmosphere and we were even lucky enough to have glorious May sunshine. There were flower crowns, boho and vintage style dresses, a beauty room offering on the day treatments, live music, free food & drink tastings and much, much more.

We had vintage VW’s, Jaguars and jeeps along with music in the garden curtesy of the awesome Will Robert and in the tipi the foot stomping Compass Moon ceilidh band. In the marquee The Swagger Funk band were entertaining along with a brilliant Blooper photobooth (we also had a Tuk Tuk photobooth and a VW camper one!) and the brilliant Jed Pascoe caricaturist.

Outside in the grounds our fabulous street food trucks had plenty of wedding food inspiration on offer from steam bao buns (Guerrilla Kitchen) to Boxed Events & The Royal Oak creating mouth watering canapés and the awesome Churros Bar providing everybody with a sweet fix!

Fine ale and cider was on tap from Bar B, served from an old fire truck, the cocktail bug from Mocha Mania were handing out Mojito’s and Sex on the Beach cocktails, Pinkster Gin were on hand and so were Cambridge Wine Merchants.  Its a good job we had fabulous bale seating from Partybales which guests could sit down and relax on and regain their walking legs along with the ‘outdoor lounge area’ created by the Prop Boutique.

There were far too many excellent suppliers who took part to name every one of them; please follow us on facebook, twitter and instagram to see the full photos and videos from the day.

Below are just a handful of the comments on social media along with a link to the brilliant video uploaded to You Tube by one of our visitors; Ellie Koyander:
