If you like the idea of escaping the UK and its temperamental weather and fancy a destination wedding under blue skies we think we may just have found the perfect venue for you just 30 miles North of Lisbon. One of our team was lucky enough to be involved in an event recently that took them to the amazing family run farm and wine estate of Quinta de Sant’Ana in Portugal.
With numerous venue spaces on the estate it is the perfect destination for both large and small intimate weddings; they even have their own baroque Chapel dating from 1633 although stunning and consecrated you are unable to marry within it however they do still hold Holy Mass every month.
We love the idea of marrying outdoors amongst the vineyards and retiring to the Reception Hall with its timeless elegance and simplicity or simply gathering on the patios in the late evening sunshine with sumptuous food and wine from the estate.
What’s even better is that the estate is actually a winery; as their website states their trump card really is ‘the “million dollar view” over softly upwards sloping vineyards constantly changing with all the striking colours the seasons provide. The eye follows the neat rows of vines up to the horizon where eucalyptus, umbrella pine and oak trees are silhouetted against the sky. On the lawns at the foot of the vineyards, framed by big marble stones formerly used to hold up barrels in the cellars a row of citrus trees from sweet and bitter oranges, tangerines, mandarins, clementines and tangors exude the scent of their blossom. After the harvest our flock of Suffolk Sheep roams the scene…’
